Protect the Tract.

Protect the Tract is a Haudenosaunee-led project that conducts research, policy development and develops capacity for civil engagement, to exercise sovereignty through the promotion of land stewardship over the Haldimand Tract.

On November 6, 2021, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy Chiefs Council and Protect the Tract agreed to Terms of Reference effective until March 31, 2022.

 

Haudenosaunee sovereignty is maintained by Haudenosaunee people who are knowledgeable about our connection to our lands, confident in their identity, and politically engaged.

Our scope of work includes:

 

Research + policy development.

conduct ongoing research regarding relevant history and legislation to inform advocacy and other areas of work.

Public Education.

make research findings accessible to community members to achieve vision.

Community Engagement + Empowerment.

develop an effective community feedback mechanism to inform work. This may include regular updates and reporting for transparency and accountability.

Communications.

use innovative platforms and strategies to effectively inform community members and allies.

Partnerships + Relationship Management.

build collaborative working relationships with other organizations.
